Take a breath.
This one might hit close to home.
When we think of trauma symptoms, we often picture panic attacks or flashbacks. But for many of us, trauma shows up in quieter ways. Ways we’ve labeled as “just how I am.”
But here’s the truth:
👉 Over-apologizing isn’t just being polite.
👉 Constantly needing to be productive isn’t just ambition.
👉 Numbing out with food or screens or busyness isn’t just being lazy.
These are survival responses.
They’re symptoms.
They’re proof that your nervous system is trying its best to keep you safe—even if it doesn’t look pretty.
Here are a few more symptoms that don’t look like symptoms:
Feeling “too much” or “not enough” in every room you walk into
Being exhausted by simple tasks
Staying in relationships that drain you
People-pleasing until you forget what you even want
Constantly bracing for something to go wrong
Struggling to relax—even when nothing is wrong
You’re not broken. You’ve adapted.
And awareness is the first crack of light.
This blog exists to gently pull you out of that “what’s wrong with me” spiral. Because healing starts when we name the things we didn’t know had names.
If any of this sounds like you—you’re not alone.
And you’re not making it up.
